Y4 Wiring a Doll’s House

Pupils have to apply their knowledge and understanding of circuits and switches to successfully wire a number of rooms in a dolls house. They draw the circuits they would construct on a plan of each floor of the dolls house.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify whether or not a lamp will light in a simple series circuit, based on whether or not the lamp is part of a complete loop with a battery
  • NaG - pupils should construct simple series circuits, trying different components, such as bulbs, buzzers and motors, and including switches, and use their circuits to create simple devices
  • WS - pupils might work scientifically by: observing patterns, for example that bulbs get brighter if more cells are added
