Y6 Understanding Alcohol

Pupils learn about alcohol, how its made, the different forms in which it comes and the reasons why adults drink alcohol. They learn about the problems and benefits associated with drinking alcohol and the serious effects that drinking too much alcohol can bring. They complete a survey to help identify which of they many problems associated with the excessive drinking of alcohol they think are the most serious.


Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - recognise the impact of diet, exercise, drugs and lifestyle on the way their bodies function
  • NaG - pupils should learn how to keep their bodies healthy and how their bodies might be damaged – including how some drugs and other substances can be harmful to the human body
  • WS - reporting and presenting findings from enquiries; recording data and results of increasing complexity using scientific diagrams; and labels, classification keys, tables, scatter graphs, bar and line graphs
