Y4 Types of Teeth and their Jobs

Pupils learn that teeth are shaped the way they are because they are designed to do different jobs. They learn that humans have three main types of teeth: incisors, canines and molars and this is because humans we eat a varied diet.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify the different types of teeth in humans and their simple functions
  • NaG - pupils might work scientifically by: comparing the teeth of carnivores and herbivores, and suggesting reasons for differences
  • WS - making systematic and careful observations; using straightforward scientific evidence to answer questions or to support their findings
