Y1 The Structure of a Plant

Children label the main parts of a flowering plant. They plant seeds and record observations of seed growth.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify and describe the basic structure of a variety of common flowering plants, including roots, stem/trunk, leaves and flowers
  • NaG - where possible, pupils should observe the growth of flowers and vegetables that they have planted
  • WS - pupils should observe closely, perhaps using magnifying glasses; draw diagrams showing the parts of different plants; compare and contrast how different plants change over time
