Y5 Sliding

Pupils solve a real problem by investigating a range of materials to see which one is the most efficient at reducing friction and therefore increasing sliding.


Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces
  • NaG - pupils should experience forces that make things begin to move, get faster or slow down
  • WS - pupils should report and present findings from enquiries, including conclusions, causal relationships and explanations of results, in oral and written forms such as displays and other presentations; record data and results of increasing complexity using scientific diagrams and labels, classification keys, tables, and bar and line graphs
