Y2 Predicting Germination and Plant Growth

Pupils plant seeds in four different plant pots. One plant pot has all the things needed for seeds to germinate and grow while the others have one of these requirements missing. Pupils plant the seeds in each of the pots and predict what they think will happen.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - find out and describe how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy
  • NaG - pupils learn that seeds and bulbs need water to grow but do not need light
  • WS - pupils should set up a comparative test to show that plants need light and water to stay healthy; use their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions
