Y2 Materials, Material Properties and their Uses

Pupils predict then investigate whether a range of materials will stretch, bend, squash or remain rigid. Pupils are also asked to provide some examples of what each material could be used for.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify and compare the uses of a variety of everyday materials, including wood, metal, plastic, glass, brick, rock, paper and cardboard
  • NaG - pupils should identify and discuss the uses of different everyday materials so that they become familiar with how some materials are used for more than one thing
  • WS - identifying and classifying
