Y4 Different Teeth for Different Jobs

Pupils look at pictures of the skull and jaw bone of two different animals, a sheep and a fox. Pupils use the information provided to label the teeth of each animal on their skull and jaw bone. Pupils identify whether of not a range of animals are carnivores or herbivores based on their jaw bones and teeth.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify the different types of teeth in humans and their simple functions
  • NaG - pupils might work scientifically by: comparing the teeth of carnivores and herbivores, and suggesting reasons for differences
  • WS - making systematic and careful observations; using straightforward scientific evidence to answer questions or to support their findings
