Y5 Air Resistance

Pupils learn about air resistance and the effect this can have on moving and falling objects. Pupils investigate the effects of air resistance on falling objects. They also investigate the surface area of a parachutes to see if it effects the rate at which an object falls.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify the effects of air resistance, water resistance and friction, that act between moving surfaces
  • NaG - pupils should explore the effects of air resistance by observing how different objects such as parachutes and sycamore seeds fall
  • WS - pupils should take taking measurements, using a range of scientific equipment, with increasing accuracy and precision; pupils could explore falling paper
