Y2 Choosing Materials for a Purpose

Pupils learn that materials are chosen because they have to do certain jobs. Many houses are made from slate, stone, sandstone, brick, wood and glass. Pupils complete a house diagram by naming the materials used to make it.

Learning Objectives:

  • PoS - identify and compare the uses of a variety of everyday materials, including wood, metal, plastic, glass, brick, rock, paper and cardboard
  • NaG - pupils should identify and discuss the uses of different everyday materials so that they become familiar with how some materials are used for more than one thing
